Melissa and Emily Boverhof
Authors of “Seven Candles: The Reclaiming of Haven”

The Boverhof girls, Melissa, age 18, and Emily, age 16, have watched friends and acquaintances alike become engulfed in fanaticism involving wizards, witches, dragons, powers, mystery, magic, and legend. Eager to reveal the evil nature behind these dark subjects, they were inspired to write Seven Candles: The Reclaiming of Haven.

In the overnight explosion of Harry Potter’s popularity, many people found their children interested in wizardry and magic practice. Apart from the hype, dazzle, and colorful concepts these sources are sometimes cloaked in, certain important questions are raised when looked at from a Godly perspective.

Where do dragons and magic come from, and are they evil?

Would it be possible that the life of a wizard would be lonely and pointless?

The answers to these and other questions were of such importance to the Boverhof girls, that they collaborated on a wholesome approach to this infectious fantasy epidemic, exposing the evil at it’s source, and spreading the word of the enemy’s secret agenda.

Melissa and Emily live with their parents Steve and Nancy, and their two younger siblings Lynn and Justin in Grant, Michigan, on a hobby farm where they enjoy making maple syrup, raising their own meat, growing their own garden, cutting wood to heat their home, and raising chickens. They are both active leaders in their county 4-H program, having won many medals, awards, and regional honors over the past years. Besides their piano playing, Melissa plays the guitar and draws Equine art (www.classicequineart.com) Emily also plays violin and does special event cake decorating, their interests include music, ministry, horses, and the study of Biblical parables and prophecy. Both girls are members of their church’s youth group praise band, and have organized several events including “Creation vs. Evolution Night” and a 30-hour famine.

Melissa and Emily give God the glory for all they have been able to accomplish, and pray that he will continue to use their lives to impact others for his kingdom.
